Hi Folks,
Just looking at booking a holiday with Cosmos (via Tesco Clubcard Deals) to The Gambia. We are going as a party of 6, me & hubby, 2 daughters (6 & 3) and my parents. We are going at the beginning of April for a couple of weeks.
The hotel we are looking at is Senegambia Beach in Kololi. We have never been before and do not know whether this is a nice area, or whether to go to a different part. Also is The Gambia child friendly? Is it best to go all innclusive here are the one we are looking at is B & B.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks!!

Have just looked into injections etc and see you need to take malaria tablets. We're not keen on the kids taking those....back to the drawing board!Make £10 a day in January 2014 - £39.68 / £3100

I see you are re-thinking your holiday. I think that is probably a good idea. We had a fabulous holiday there a couple of years ago, just hubbie and I, the Gambians were very friendly
However, there is not a lot for very young children to do and you cannot go in the sea as it is always rough.Away with the fairies.... Back soon0 -
I would say Florida is a safe bet with young children (mine are 3 and 6). Fly virgin atlantic as they cater for kiddiewinks. Plenty to do and lovely beaches.
This year we are going to try out Morrocco. Only a four hour flight but cannot comment 'til we have been!
Enjoyed Sosua in Dominican Republic. I know you can get some great deals to DR.0 -
I stayed at the senegambia beach hotel in 2005, if you did go I would highly recommed upgrading to a superior room, massive difference, theres nothing really for children to do there, theres a kids swimming pool, but nowt else the entertainment is really a few of the ents team putting on a local show, but thats not to 10pm.
The Gambians are very friendly, but with yong children, your get a lot of attention, and after the first few people it can get a bit over powering.
Re injections - typhiod, tetanus, polio
Malaria tablets - its a high risk country, and the tablets can not be brought over the counter, so an example a fortnight stay, per adult can add £55 to £80 per person.
again the beaches are lovely, but you cant swim in the sea, you can get some hassle on the beach by beach bums trying to sell you everything, and as a foreigner we are considered rich, when you base this on the average security guard earns £20 a month.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Positive note now!
Can highly recommend a hotel in Tunisia that is in cosmos, if you go April its still lovely weather, and becoz its winter brochere its cheaper than May.
Its called The Hotel Miramir, (spelling might be slightly wrong), Hammament, ive stayed there 3 times and its a lovely hotel, the last twice Ive been Ive stayed elsewhere but always pop in for a coffee.
Tunisia is really child friendly, and the hotels absolutely bend over backwards for children, its a country that is suitable for all ages, so your parents, yourselves and children will love it.
The hotel is beach front, the sands are lovely, the hotel has 2 outside pools, one indoor pool, the staff are really friendly.
your in a lovely area, slap bang facing a little mini market,(the lady is so friendly, makes you feel really welcome), youve got a couple of gift shops facing, a pile of snack bars, and 1 minutes walk is an absolutelty gorgeous restaurant "Cascades", posh but cheap, thats another of my must go to. A taxi ride into the main town is the equivalant of £2.00.
Its only 3 1/4hr flight, no malaria tablets, as usual the jabs are recommended but that would be the same as going to Spain.
