Door Curtains, how did you do yours?

Hello! Am looking to fit a couple of door curtains, problem is this, the doors are adjacent to the wall, so there is just the door space to fit curtain. Sounds simple, umhm, my ony concern is this, when the door opens, say in the summer when door not in use, the curtain will get stuck behind door. Take the curtain down you may say, ah but, how dreadful would the track look without a curtain attached, to me that's like a light bulb without a shade, looks lazy and cheap.
I'd thought about maybe continuing the curtain track round onto the wall, so when not in use the curtain could be pushed right from the door, and onto wall, if you know what I mean!? Has anyone done this? Does it look daft? Any helpful hints /tips appreciated, before I get the drill out  Thanks very much!

We have a curtain at our front door.........leads straight out onto the street - and we got one of those tracks where as you open the door the curtain also opens (forget what they're called now). When the curtains not drawn it's tied back against the wall - does that help at all ?

Yes that does help, that track thing you have sounds great, it attaches to your door? thats an idea, hadn't thought about attaching to door. Wouldn't stop draughts much though. Is your track above the door?

Ours is just above the door frame. We've got draught excluder round the door and one of those sausage shaped draught excluders for the bottom so its not really a problem

I think the curtain rail for your door is called a PORTIERE ROD. Try Googling it ,plenty on there

  • I don't believe it!

I was looking for this just this morning.
Put door curtain in the MSE search and it came back 'no match' - browsing the site this evening and found this thread - thanks. :T
