Refused PO card

in Credit cards
A few weeks ago I applied for a PO card and I was very surprised to be turned down, I have 4 credit cards already but I wanted the PO one as I travel frequently and they don't charge for w/ds so I thought I'd save some money on my travels. I have had 3 of the cards for over 10 years and the other one for around 10 months and I have a direct debit to pay the balance of every month and I also use direct debit for all my bills including community charge. I also do not have a mortgage and my earnings are twice the national average. I know the obvious answer is to write to experian etc but I really can't see them having anything on me. I am now not interested in the PO card as I now have a Nationwide BS card and it works in much the same way. I'm just curious how the PO turned me down and yet The Nationwide BS gave me a card no problem. Could the answer be that the PO would not make money out of me?

Quite possibly yes - every lender uses different credit scoring methods.0

Yep, could be anything not necessary for you to have done something naughty. Not making use of your current cards or even having credit balances would do it. The card issuers are running scared at the moment and very fussy about who they take on.
No problem though as the Nationwide card is super for use when traveling."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools"

You say that you already have 4 cards - what is the total limits available to you on these cards - compare this with the annual income that you put down on the PO application.
You may owe nothing on them but the potential to run amok up to your limits is there and this might have put them off your application.
If you have a number of cards and you don't use them (but you don't want to close them) then get the limits reduced to say a £1000 each for emergencies.0 -
try the nationwide debit card for overseas use... altho u may get refused there aswell, as they are very strict on their criteria.*~* Valued Opinions - £40; Quidco - £92.77; Lightspeed Panel - £40; My Survey - £20; Consumer Pulse - £190; Toluna - £44; Ciao - £42.47; GfK - £50; Pigsback - £20; ABAi - £10; Panelbase - £10.45 ; Grassroots - £50 *~* Blue Text = Account now closed
