Please Help Filling PassPort Forms:

Hi guys,

I recently used the preprinted on-line service in order to receive my passport forms through the post. This is for my first full adult passport as my child one has expired.

After reading through the instructions I am not sure i need someone to fill out the 'countersignature section' ? It says:

'A countersignatory must sign the application form at section 10 if:

the applications is for a first-time passport or to replace a passport that is unavailable (that is, has been lost of stolen).

This is not my first passport, but first adult passport. I think i'll give the helpline a ring a Monday but if anyone can help in the meantime it would be appriciated.

Thanks

  • I think you will need a signiture I'm afraid. Remember pretty much anyone of "good standing" can sign it as long as they have known you 2yrs. Professionals can and will charge, and some are reluctant now they have to give their own passport details in the form- you wouldn't want your details flying around would you...
  • The helpline is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week -
08705 210 410 (8p a min tho). I agree with anonymousie, it's probably best to get a signature on your photo & form. There's a list of who can countersign here: http://www.ips.gov.uk/passport/apply-countersign.asp .

Just spoke to a passport examiner (wife) and you don't need it countersigned proiding you can be recognised by previous photograph.

:) Yep, will definately need a new photo. I never even realised it was me in photo until I checked the name!

Thanks for all replies, will get someone to sign it for me asap. Apparently they also need a passport to fill in their number :)

    Kind regards,

    Richard
  • yes whoever signs your photograph must have a valid british passport themselves
