Its a wonderful place and from my experiences I would highly recoommend a desert safari (I'm not sure how much it would cost) but it comprises wadi bashing in the desert (off roading basically in the sand) followed by setting up camp, proper arabic food, few beers maybe (depends on your guide) and then you sleep over. The next day may culminate in a fresh water swim somewhere. But you see on the night when you are in the desert and it is dark, it sooooooooooooo peaceful and the night sky is absolutely magical. I walked maybe a 100 yds from the camp and it was dead silence and what an experience that is truly magical. Other than that in Doobers, you can shop till you drop, the gold souq is a must, a trip up Dubai Creek in a dhow is worth a shout and a walk up and down jumeriah beach is also very nice also. I hope you win it because it is a magical place and so bloody hot. Good luck LennyThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hi Moneymaker2
Dubai is my favourite place of all time. If we are ever financially solvent:rotfl: it is my dream to buy a place over there. When you hopefully win and get to go -the gold souk is ok but you do get hassle if you are a female aone so go as part of a group. I woud highly reccomend www.arabianadventures.com and they are bookable from the majority of hotel receptions. I love silver and pearls but theres no point looking in Dubai for them. If you go to Sharjah - the next emirate along- only 20 miles from Dubai and go to the Blue Souk it is the real old fashioned souk without the hassle or crowds.Silver is for nothing and you can get fab pearls. I got a squashed pearl with an ornate silver twist around it iykwim for about €10 and got a fab silver necklace to set it of for about a fiver!!I only wish I had bought more. Last Christmas I saw a very similar piece in a jewllers , admittedley it was white gold not silver but it was €535 .
If you do get to go let me know as I can give you a load of info
Good luck
