Hi All,

I'm going to ask what might be a very stupid question.
I joined Quidco the other night on the advice of someone on here for my pet insurance. And took out a policy with Halifax that had £20 at the side of it on the advert on Quidco.:embarasse

Stupid question....but how exactly does Quidco work in lamens terms??!!
I've attempted to read through the FAQs but my brain doesnt seem to want to take it all in!:think:

I'm extremely stressed and depressed at the moment so it's hard to concentrate.

quidco basically is a referral site, if the transaction was done wholly online you should get the ,money show in your quidco account , sometimes within a few hours sometimes within a few days. it can then take a few months before it is paid to you. quidco does work, i have had a few hundred pounds from them

There are no stupid questions really!! I struggled to get to grips with Quidco, but I THINK (no expert!) it works like this;

Quidco works as a co-operative - merchants pay Quidco for advertising space on their website (as they would any website, magazine, tv channel). Instead of Quidco taking all of the profit they make from selling advertising space, they pass it on to us. To be honest, I don't know why they do it, or what they have to gain from it. I think it works a bit like commision. Quidco get paid commission for every referral from their website. I don't know if they keep a small percentage of it before it gets passed on to us.
Kind of two answers there, I know, but I hope I made some sense!

you certainly could be, i got £300 just before christmas simply for taking my home and motor insurance from companies advertising through quidco.

Quidco get a commission for orders they refer to retailers sites. They pass this commission onto the members (us)
The first £5 of commission you earn each year is taken by quidco to cover costs-the rest you get. If you don't earn £5 in a year (which is pretty hard to do) Quidco deduct nothing.

I *think* I understand.

So I took out that pet insurance wholly online (saved myself £4 a month!!) and got £20. It's not showing when I log in yet. So does that mean I just transfer the money to whichever bank account I want or do I have to pay Quidco something first?!

Being TOTALLY blonde this morning (probably because I am blonde DUH!!)

quidco will withold the first £5 you get , as for showing on your account, halifax is quite slow , it can take up to 4 or 5 days to show. as for withdrawing it, once it shows in your account it will tell you when quidco will expect to get the money, once they have got it then you can withdraw... hope this helps
