Help Moms paying £95 per month Gas and Ele
Hi,
My mom is with N Power,
She is paying £51 a month for her Gas and she is in arrears by £150.
Can anyone tell me if this seems right, my Bills are not that much.
She lives on her own in a 3 bed semi house, has the heating on about 10 hours a day say, her water is heated while this is on, she doesnt do much cooking.
She has a old style boiler and not a combi...
But why are they charging her so much ???
I rang them, and they said they could send someone out to look at her meter but if its not faulty then she will have to pay £50.

Does she have any other form of heating, other than the central heating?
As she has the heating on most of the day every day, I don't think the cost is excessive.
Can you look at her bill for the last 12 months, the arrears may have built up, because she wasn't paying enough previously.
Maybe get her to read the meter every week and then you know how much she is using, as often, a monthly payment is no real indicator of the actual cost.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Sounds about right. SIL has her heating on about the same and for a 3 bed and is paying about the same.0

I'm guessing you're from the West Midlands, and assuming that she is on the standard dual fuel rates, if she was to switch to EON Online Energy Saver - Go via a site for cashback she'll save around £270 per year.
NPower will be dearer for Electricity in their home area. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I live in a two bed flat and have a combi boiler. I also have double glazing, but found it so much warmer when I put thermal/black out curtain linings on my curtains. I keep my heating on 24/7 in the winter as I just can't let myself get cold. I have CFS/ME and I ache even more when cold. I keep my curtains closed most day's and only open them is somebody comes in. One of my friends thinks it is "not right" but I am paying my bills.......
Is your mum heating rooms she does not need? Does she keeps doors closed? Do ensure she is on the correct tarrif/company and remember duel fuel may not be her best option. If she does not use a computer can you manage her account on your computer? I also use (Powergen) E.On and am very grateful for the tesco points.Today, my BEST is good enough.0
