Texaco Card Payment Warning

Ok, I admit this is my fault for letting them get their hands on my MAIN account details instead of my Direct Debit Account. (soon to be rectified) But.
Paid my monthly bill on the 6th by phone. Asked the rep to diarise(s) it as my monthly payment.
Went to pay for petrol today. Bank Card maxed out. Rung the bank. Texaco took another payment on the 18th.
Rung Texaco. Yes, that's your monthly payment. Er, no. I paid that on the 6th. No sir, that's an extra payment.
To summarise. If your making the minimum payment they will treat any payments made before or after the PAYMENT DUE DATE as an additional payment.
We now have to go to the bank and claim off the DD Indemnity scheme.
Just to let you know.

People do this all the time, if the posts on here are anything to go by.
The Rules are:
(1) If you have arranged to pay by direct debit, the CC company will take this irrespective of any other payments you make.
(2) If you don't want them to take the direct debit, you must tell them.
(3) The processing of a direct debit begins several days in advance and might not be stoppable once it's in action. So when applying Rule (2) you need to do so a week or so before the payment date.0 -
if you use the DD Indemnity scheme your cc will charge you a missed DD fee.0
