which bank will take me on!!!!!

my husband and I both work so have regular incomes.(about £1800 per month)
Last year we lost our house and still have lots of debt, so our credit rating is zilch!
I'm currently with HSBC basic account and a direct debit bounced twice (even though I put money in the same day to cover the DD payment) they are now closing our account.
Therefore I'm looking around for new bank accounts (one preferably with a visa bank card). I've applied to about 5 now and they've all turned us down.
I'm really really worried now - what are we going to do? Can anyone out there steer me in the right direction

I dont think that anyone could tell you that any bank will accept you 100%. But might be worth trying the following, as i have poor credit and have had good experiences with them.
Natwest Step Account (Solo Debit Card)
Lloyds Cash Account (Visa Debit Card But can only be used to withdraw cash in Lloyds machines)
Alliance And Leceister Premier Direct (Visa Debit and is a full account)
All are basic accounts other than A&L but all seem to take people with bad credit history.
Good luck0 -

Just to say sorry to hear things are tough at the moment and hope you soon get back on your feet. Yes definately try Lloyds as they are really helpful and as the op has mentioned you can have the cash card to withdraw from the cash machine.0 -
sainsburysbank.co.uk afaik they dont do a credit check for the savings (cashcard) account- they also have an internet only account, paying 6% gross..
also check out the various pre-pay card accounts (Sun/Tuxedo, etc) - topup like a mobile, use like a normal credit card (but only upto what you have loaded!)Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Just want to thank everyone who took the trouble to respond.
