daveboy would be one of those idiot lobbyist with the banners outside 'debt agencies' proclaiming 'Its your own fault your in debt' 'I love CCs'. Idiot.

This forum isnt here for personal insults, take your childish attitude else where.

You haven't been a 'customer' for 20 years if over all of that time you've paid each statement off. You've made them diddly squat...

Not *quite* true, they do get merchant fees every time the card is used (paid by the retailer) - but granted, they don't amount to much and they'd rather you were paying interest on a balance.
  • I have been very interested to read everyone's opinions of this situation, unfortuately those who have the most negative view do not seem to have addressed my further comments (money saving superfan since 2005). This site, and martin's whole idea is to get people out of debt, not to insult those who are trying and currently succeeding in doing this. By the way, in this day and age £1200 of debt is peanuts!! certainly not worth advertising and easily solved with some prudent organisation...... don't spend what you can't afford. I am very diappointed, I thought that this site would be full of like minded people, instead, many seem to be consumed with self pity and insults to others. I'm sure Martin set up this site to help us all prosper, shame.

Trm 4342, don't let a minority put you off posting on here when most are kind and very helpful. This is a money saving forum at the end of the day, and if certain posters are bored by people posting T&C threads then the answer for them is don't read and reply, but move on to things they find more interesting. You made a valid post.

  • Thanks Geenie. I have been recieving moneysaving expert emails for a number of years and have benefitted from the advice, but have never felt the need to post anything, however I am, despite your reassurances, disappointed by the calibre of contributors, do these people really want to get out of debt or save money???, many seem to be resigned to the fact that credit card companies have the right to treat their customers as they wish and seem to go to great lengths to justify their actions (??) and indeed feel the need to advertise just how much they owe to these companies as if it is some kind of status to be £xxxx in debt (strange!). As i have already said, if we all paid our cards off (which is the aim) where would they be?
  • I think the point people are trying to make here is that it seems as though you take your access for granted, its a privilage, not a right.

You arent paying them any money for their service so why should you expect any pity? If everyone paid their cards off every month, CC companies would see very little profit, and as such, they wouldnt offer cards to many people.
  • But the point everyone else seems to be missing is that this is a money saving site, not a 'well we should all be thankful for the credit companies generositiy' forum - which is what this appears. I'm sorry, many of the contributors here seem to be consumed with credit card companies and their right to behave as they wish, for many years, british people lived within their means and held credit cards, it's simply our stupidity and the cc co.s greed which has placed us in this situation, defending them does little.... we should be standing against them not bickering amongst ourselves.

I shall not be contributing further to this site.
  • Actually i work for Barclaycard :p

Nice to know you wont be wasting anymore server space though.
