Is there any way I can get my money back?

We're in the middle of a long drawn out house sale and only a month ago found one to buy. We offered, negotiated and reached an agreed price in June. A month later we have surveyed and instructed solicitors and due to some delays in the sale of our house, the people we are buying off have now decided to take the house off the market - this after we've paid over £600 for a survey and have incurred solicitors costs of probably the same amount again.
I think the legal system allows this to happen, but is there any way I can claim reimbursement of our incurred costs?

No is indeed correct. This happened to us in 2003.
Unable to find another house, we had to take ours off the market.
Our buyers threatened us with violence unless we repaid their survey costs (the fact we lost ours was unimportant to them)! So we got the police on to them and never heard anything further.
And we reported them to ALL the local estate agents warning them what sort of people they were! After all, what if it were some poor pensioner being threatened in this way?0 -

LOL - you don't do things by half. Remind me, if we ever meet, to be very, very polite to you.

How did you lose yours, when you said you was unable to find a house anyway?0
