You could always threaten to move banks unless they give you a debit card.
Or look at getting a credit card elsewhere. Capital One are pretty good in your situation from what I read. You can then use it to build up your credit rating by paying on time, but MAKE SURE you pay on time. It can be a slippery slope.
There are pre-pay cards as well. The Talk Sport prepay Maestro is pretty much the best deal at the mo. £10 to buy the card, then 70p to top it up at the post office.
It won't improve your credit rating though, so if you can get a credit card, and you trust yourself with it, you'll be able to build your rating. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
that was the card i applied for
i did it online and the response i got was there are some things we need to check, we will contact you in the next two days
but they never got back in touch so i assumed i had been rejected0 -
Hearing nothing back is strange. You usually get a reply saying either way.
If you applied within the last few weeks, give them a call. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
voodoovince, I had the same reply and got a card from them. Give them a call.0
