Parking Fine

Options
I parked in Ellesmere port town centre about three weeks ago went to pay the 50p for my ticket, put 5p in the machine and it got stuck, with only having 50p in change and losing 5p of that i was then unable to purchase a ticket unless i went to the shop and get some change.

I was only due to be in the centre for half an hour before going to work so i never purchased a ticket as i was in a bit of rush.

I returned to my car and got a £40 fine for not displaying a ticket, I appealed against the decision explaining the circumstances and have just received a letter back from the local council saying that she does'nt believe me as there were no reported faults on any of the machines on that particular day.

I am very angry as i know for a fact there was but how can i prove it ?

Not only has she said that i must pay the fine within seven days, reading the letter she is saying that i am a liar, there must be somebody within the council that knows there was a problem,

Any ideas anybody, i am going to reappeal.

I think technically you should have called a number on the machine and reported it faulty. However, you'd probably have found the phone line only manned Mon-Fri 10-4 anyway!

So, not sure. But my main reason for writing was to give a bit of advice:

Whenever a parking machine eats my money without registering it, I don't add any more money, even if I have it - it's good money after bad! I put a short note on the dashboard stating what has happened. Once we had to do this with the wife's lipstick on a used tissue! I've never had a parking ticket yet. I also consider this to be reporting the fault, as the parking attendant will certainly see it.
