    I've been Money Tipped!
Is there any better way to trigger off childhood memories than by making a banana sandwich, with the banana lavishly sprinkled with brown sugar?

Is there a quicker way to make your throat close than to spot a toddler fishing out from his glass of coke the obligatory slice of lemon, shaking it dry and then sucking it!

The only fruits I really love and could eat every day are strawberries, raspberries and cherries, unfortunately these are usually more expensive than other fruits.

I make myself eat apples and bananas every day because they are good for me and add to my 5 a day,but I can't say I enjoy them that much.I like stewed apple, preferably with custard, but not raw apples.
  • We start off the day with fruit smoothies, which is the only way I can get lots of fruit into my eldest. I throw in anything I can find, but always include blueberries. I keep lots of frozen soft fruits in the freezer. I sieve as the littleuns don't like the seeds. Delicious! :T

Just when you mention blueberries, I gave some to dd when she was very small; she ate the inside and spat the skin out :o Same with grapes!

We both love fruit and eat it either as it comes (depending on the fruit, pineapple, etc gets peeled!), or chopped up into a fruit salad.

I do love watermelon with feta cheese though :D

Watermelon would be OK if it wasn't for those seeds.....I like ordinary melons but they make my breathing go all wheezey

  • I usually make my DS a little fruit platter for their supper. It generally consists of a selection of what comes in my fruit box delivery, with some yoghurt and/or honey to dip it into. I have lots of little themed bento foodpicks to spike them with (the fruit not the kids!!)

I quite often include any fruit that has been leftover in their lunch boxes to get it used up.

Apples are generally sliced into rings and soaked in a vit C tab to stop them going brown.

ooh banana split just popped into my head thinking about fruit ... I'm off to make one now. I can't resist a nice big banana!

I just eat them usually, good quality fruit doesn't need much doing to it though.

One thing that's really nice though is to slice a banana lengthwide then sprinkle sugar on top, run a blowtorch over it to caramelise the sugar. Delicious with a little vanilla ice cream on the side.

LOL @ how fussy some of you peeps are about fruit. Can I join the gang too? I only ever eat fruit once it has been cut up into bite size pieces which I then eat from a plate with a fruit fork. The MATHLETTS taunt me something chronic about it but then they find my need for a Napkin (never a serviette:eek::D) just to eat a biscuit weird too.LOL
