in Credit cards
Hi, wonder if anyone can advise me -
In the Christmas/New Year silly season, I stupidly forgot to pay my credit card. Ive never ever forgotten before, and I genuinely thought I had paid until I combed through my bank statment (I always pay my credit card from my bank account online). I never just pay the minimum - its always at least £100 (and i've got less that £1000 on there, which i'm about to pay off in full cos I have savings).
Anyway, my question is, will this forgotten payment go down as a default on my credit record? I tried to make up for it by paying double the amount on the next bill, and it's not like I deliberately didn't pay - it was a genuine mistake! I'm just a bit worried that my forgetfulness will come back to haunt me if I try to get any credit/loans/mortgages in the future (not that I have any plans to do so just yet).

if you paid it back right the next month then it will just show as one late payment. so it will be ok. just dont let it happen again otherwise it will mess things up.
you could check your credit record but i am sure you should be ok. and set up a DD.0 -
Thanks for that! Like I said, i'm about to pay it all off anyway so I shouldn't need to set up a DD

scorpio princess, if this was a one off try contacting your CC company and ask if they will remove the late payment entry. I did that with one of my CC companies and they did it no questions asked within 48 hours.0

I have also just done the same thing :wall::wall::wall: again I have never missed a payment before - but have just missed making a payment and have just paid more than I owe to clear any balance.
Does anyone know how much , if any, impact this will have on one's credit rating
well actually just come off the phone to card co and they have also agreed to wipe any late payment from my records :j:j:j:j
would still be interested to know the answer to the above question though - thanksHate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing

Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying :mad:0 -

did any of you also ask for the £12 charge to be refunded? I'm wondering if they readily do this or just stick to their guns.0
