Birthday Party Ideas

Hi There,
Its my sons birthday in 2 weeks time and I really dont know what to do for him. I was going to take him disneyparis but its to expensive for me as Im a single parent and cant afford it so hopefully will take him towards the end of the year.
There was a thread on here about hiring fire engines, which basically is a normal fire engine and the kids get picked up, taken to choosen place ie mcdonalds and have a few games in the fire engine which sounds fun. I certainly am not a chav and neither is my son as it states on that thread which is now locked. So if anyone has used any of the companies that hire fire engines can you please provide me a link. My son loves fireman Sam still and Im sure he would enjoy this. BUt this is just an option.
My flat is quite small and we have not long been in the area. Im not inviting to many children and have previously done home parties when I lived in a bigger place.
Im not well off so cant do anything fancy and big, there is no places near by to take the kids either.
Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thank you.x

you dont say how old he is ?where we live a lot of children have had a party at the local sports centre or someone had a swimming party is there maybe a zoo or some sort of attraction near you (realise you said you cant go to mad but i dont think any of those ideas are anymore expensive than the idea you already have thought about.if its a bit more than you are looking to spend why not cut back on the amount of children you invite?well whatever you decide iam sure he will enjoy some children dont even have partys!0

Thank you all for your replies. I replied to a previous thread on here about these parties and basically posted to ask if anyone had anymore info as one of the links was not working and another user said it was for chavs, which I found very insulting. Some ppl actually thanked the person who wrote that hiring these sort of things was for chavs which i replied stating i was not nor my son was a chav.
My son will be 6.Yes, i state I dont have much money which I dont but if it costs about £100 I do not mind paying that as my brother is going to help with the cost. if i was to hire the fire engine i think your only allowed about 8 kids which is cool by me. My son and I have had a very hard time and been through a lot over the year and I want him to have an unforgetable birthday suprise as I can not take him disney paris like I said I would.
I live in south London, have tried google but havent found any yet.As for sports centres thats an excellent idea but my son cant swim yet fully and i will defianatly consider that when his older. There are no ball pits close by either, thats what my son wants but none close by.He doesnt know about the fire engine as I want his birthday to be a suprise.0 -

Do you know any of his school friends who have a birthday around the same time who you could perhaps share with? That seems to be the done thing in DD's class. We've been to a 3 handed party today, and are going to a 2 hander on Sunday. I also shared a party with another girl in DD's class back in April and it meant we could invite all 30 children in the class because we shared the cost. Just a thought.
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0
