Nope, it'll be 80% of any consulting fees if I go private, which I will once they know which speciality doctor I need because I'm being seriously ignored at the moment.
You got enough for the other 20%?Once I get my medical records and a confirmation of my suspicions I just might

Would the difference that I'm living at home and lending to my parents make a difference? (Hence why my rent is so low).
Sorry - you are paying rent to your parents?
Yeah it's a three year course. I think so, but I'd have to check, so I'd go back next January?
Most degree courses are three years. If you passed the modules for the first half of the year, I would expect that to be the way it worked. Some universities have modules that last all year, so you might have to go back in September. Either way you would get your loans extended.
So I can either claim benefits and pay back the OD or leave the OD and get nothing for now?
Check this out with the bank and the welfare officer. if you suspend, I would have thought the bank should be OK. I am not sure you need to tell them that you had to officially withdraw to be able to claim benefits, as they will not be expecting your grant money to be paid in anyway. it is when the grant money does not arrive and they discover that you have left that they have a fit. But I do know that if you are only suspended, you cannot get benefits.
Suspend at Easter, so try and go back for now or just dither until then?
Frankly, if you have been this unwell, are you fit to go back now? You need doctor's certs for university anyway. What do they say?
It's so hard not knowing what's actually wrong with me, if they could say even roughly oh it's X and the plan is Y which will take Z to fix/go, it would be so much easier.
I agree. Would your personal tutor be able to come out and see you at home and talk stuff over? The thing is even if you go back and foul up totally, as long as you have doctor's cert, you should be granted extenuating circumstances, so you can re-take the assessments again.
But if you are not well, would you recover better if you did not have the additional stress of assessments? Or would you personally be happier to work from home and try and do one or two modules this summer and then go back next year to do the rest?

It is hard. It does not help when you do not know the rules. I was seriously ill in my last year at Uni and ploughed on regardless. It affected my final result but i was so ill and so ill-informed that I did not realise that my tutors were suggesting an appeal to get an up-grade.
If it had not been for my personal circumstances (the complete horror at the idea of living at "home" and also dealing with my mother's extreme anxiety about my health), I would have taken the year out. Again, no one told me that I could get funding to retake the third yearIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Thanks. The rules are so complicated too. I've now found this: "Normally the interruption is for one whole year and should begin at the end of an academic year, semester or term". So I guess I need to find out when term two officially began to see if I've attended enough to leave at Easter.
The fourth year funding is a huge help, luckily I knew about it as a friend of mine dropped out last year and re-started. And the extra loan doesn't worry me, it's worth it for the education.
It's whether to defer or drop out for now, and how to financially survive the next eight months that scares me.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Whenever I'm feeling low I tackle the one-eyed monster. Obviously thats not help to you as you don't have one but I'm willing to let you use mine if it'll cheer you up!

Hun, you have to start being more selfish, actually selfish isn't the word, but what I'm trying to say is, your parents problems are their problems, not yours. You should not be lending them money. The same with your brother. You simply can't afford it.
I don't know what to suggest regarding uni as I haven't got a scooby. With regards to your health, keep on at them. Tell them you're not willing to be treated as another statistic. Keep harrassing them with phone calls until they pull their fingers out.
The same with anyone else messing you about. Now the time to start making yourself heard.

Thanks SS - I think

I went to work today, fought through a short shift. I've now been given a kinda ultimatum from my boss, they'll refer me to Occu Health if I'm off again (apparently that means it's on a permanent record?
)
I can cut my hours or go to a 0 hour contract, have to ring my boss after I've seen the specialist next week.
I hate all these decisions at once!No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

Just skimmed through most of this, so apologies if I'm repeating what others have said!
Regarding your dvd rental, could you not search some of the online dvd rental sites to see if they have any free offers, I know Lovefilm often have 3-month free trials.
Me and my OH have been swapping free trials for the last year, when his expired, I took one out. They then offer him another free trial which he takes up when mine runs out and vice versa.
So far, they haven't twigged that we're in the same house, I can't remember if you're living at home, or in a student house, either way, could you and someone else do the same thing??0
