Alliance & Leicester e-saver, anyone else having problems opening it ?

Maybe it's just me. Applied about seven weeks ago. Sent the ID stuff about five weeks ago - nothing. So I rang them ( was transferred 7 times mainly between 'savings' and 'new accounts' back and forth). Finially spoke to someone, explained and gave reference, was put on hold, person came back and said the bank statement hadn't been certified properly and the utility bill didn't have my name and address so it's in a tray waiting to be returned. No, I can't speak to the relevant department, only she can. Documents still not returned. Ok, I'm not infallible so maybe something is wrong but I'm sure the utility bill does have my name and address !! Just seems everything is taking so long I wonder if they are having difficulty processing new accounts, especially with the £20 quidco incentive. Anyone else having a long wait ??

    Opened one on behalf of my mum on 13 Feb but she already has the Dirct saver a/c. Received an email on 14 Feb saying application has been successful and they will send through the post the account info & welcome pack. Not received anything through the post yet, but logged on to the A&L site today (15 Feb) and noticed the eSaver is now showing in the list of accounts - so have now deposited some money from the linked current account.

    I'm not an existing customer so they asked for ID verification, certified bank statement and utility bill posted off.

    Neither was i but i didnt need to send anything through

    Letter I got from them :
    '' In accordance with money laundering regulations we must now verify the identity of each person who applies to open an account with us before we can open the account. This applies even if you already hold an account with Alliance & Leicester''.

    I've already got a business account with them ( forgot that, dormant company )

    Dunno, I'm getting totally fed up of this ID milarky.
