Wanted - BTL Landlords

  • Students used to be sociable animals. Drinking, partying, meeting in the library to study - whatever.

Today, they do their research on a PC alone in their room and spend hours playing on-line games.

    Boring, boring, boring.

And most are doing courses that have no real value. Wasted lives.

    GG

Students study in their rooms as it is quieter and they have their own pcs. The Internet is such a powerful tool for gathering up to date information.

They still do party and drink.

Without a degree, my son wouldn't have walked into a 44k job at 21. Hardly a wasted life.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

some universities now build their own student accommodation - Bristol landlords struggled last year to fill houses for this reason

I read that that happened in Lincolnshire too, when the university built more student halls.

in theory the capalist in me is fully supportive of btl replacing all social housing however the housing market is not a free market (because of planning restrictions) and i have serious reservations about the inpact btl can have on the surrounding areas.

if planning got deregulated and you could sue landlords if they move a bunch of crack heads etc next door then hay let rip but till then till then i think they are more of a problem than help.
  • Well some newspapers have reported that because Britain is now entering a recession and there are less jobs, quite a few Poles are moving back home or to Germany, where the cost of living is a lot lower. Students are def worried about debt so studying while living at home is a good way of saving money (sad tho, for them).
And most are doing courses that have no real value.
