I have a drier which I avoid using except to get things from slightly damp to dry. The airer is good too, might buy a second.
Although it's expensive I may try the local launderette this winter.
I have a little bin thingy for socks(to be turned the right way please) and undies.
This is all part of a bigger problem, lazy 17 yr old.
Very very rarely iron;)0 -
I'm the opposite to a lot of you - if it's on the floor it goes in the wash. I could handle a small pile in the corner of the room as 'worn but not yet dirty' but when the whole of his side of the room is strewn with clothes? no no no he WILL learn to be a bit tidier! The number of times I've been asked 'where's my T-shirt?' and I've innocently replied 'Oh there were so many clothes all over the floor I didn't know what was clean or dirty so I washed it all. If you folded the clean clothes up and put them in a pile I'd know to leave them alone' mwahahaha I am evil.0

Washing here gets washed, tumble dried or put on hangers in the airing cupboard and I can think of two times in the last year that the iron came out of hiding
Its the only way I can keep up!!!0 -
Trick to stop them leaving clothes on the floor is to tell them that spiders will find their way and make nests in there0

Is using a tumble drier really expensive?0
-
I think a tumble dryer is expensive - we have a wooden airer which goes on the landing over the stairs and it's brilliant - clothes are dry in 24 hours.
I sort my washing:
Whites/very lights
Mid coloureds
Darks
Bedding wash
Towels wash
and then it starts again!Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
Mine costs about 25p a load, but it can add up over time. I try to line dry whenever possible but many times with a family, sheets towels uniforms and whatever you just have to bite the expense and save your sanity.
My other thought is that drying washing all over the house causes a lot of water to be released into the property, over time this can cause condensation and damp, that can be much more costly than running a tumble dryer.0 -
