£50 from FD for a/c switcher: discussion

[Came from an ad on The Independent newspaper website]:

http://www.firstdirect.com/banking/current_account_external.shtml?fd_msc=CN002

It is only available for first time FD current account customers and seems to require account switching [which doesn't require the old account to be closed however]. If you have a 'minor' current account which you are really not using for much but have one or two direct debits set up on it, and elect to switch that account, then does anyone know it is makes a difference? You could have your salary temporarily moved to FD and then back to a different account after the required waiting time to receive their incentive payment?
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam
