normally this would be an insurance claim - and you would therefore only pay the glass excess on your policy, so most peoples experience of replacing windscreens will all be dependent on their insurance policy. People dont normally buy their own windscreens...check your insurance!if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.0

& if you've NOT got insurance cover, have a word with your friendly, lacal used car dealer. Ask who does 'trade' windscreens, in your area,
You'll be surprised how low the 'REAL' price is, compared to an insurance recommended company, will ask!!

Hi Jo Samways
having worked for autoglass for a number of years first of all what type of car?
The windscreen could be a bonded or a string in.
If it is a string in could allways go to a car breakers very easy to fit.
If it is a bonded glass my advice would be get the yellow pages and phone all the windscreen companys in your area and state you are paying cash for the glass as stated by vansboy
wish you well
