Stansted - early morning security queues?

Next Monday, I have to catch a 6.55am flight from Stansted. What are the security queues like at that sort of time? I was there a couple of weeks ago for a Sunday night flight and the queues were horrendous. When checking in online (as I will next week) I tend to arrive at the airport 45 mins before departure which is fine at the airports I usually use (LPL, LBA, MAN, AMS, EIN), but I would have missed my flight the other week had I not been early arriving at STN. I don't want to be any earlier than necessary this time, so when is the latest you would suggest arriving for a flight at 6.55?
I have to get there from Winchmore Hill in North London (N21). Would you get a taxi to Golders Green (8 miles) and the National Express coach from there, or cab all the way to Stansted (31 miles)? Any ideas on cost of taxis for each option?
Cheers,
Jamp

I flew into Stansted at 7:40am last week, and as I was walking through I saw the security line was outside the security zone and many, many people were looking stressed.
There again, I flew back out on Tuesday at 3pm and we were the only two people at security, aside from the guards and a couple of elderly people putting their shoes back on.
So assuming I didn't have to check in, I'd probably arrive a little over an hour before, and I'd take a taxi all the way instead of risking the bus not turning up or being late and making you later. Some companies have fixed prices to the airport - call around and compare prices.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Stanstead and Luton both have a mini rush hour from about 6.30am to 7.30am. I've been to both at similar time in the last few months and it's been horrendous. I'd arrive 1.45 hours before take off to be very safe. Yes I know it'll hurt but missing the plane will hurt more.0

A colleague of mine missed his flight last week as a result of being in the queue for security for 90 minutes. This was at Stansted and was early in the morning0

Thanks for the replies. Maybe this bargain flight wasn't such a good idea, especially as I now see Ryanair's website is going down so I won't be able to check in online next weekend. It'll just have to be a very early start I guess! Cheers.0

Liverpool is far worse, the early morning flights are a disaster to get on,even using the fast track to get through doesnt guarantee you getting on board.0

This isnt the place to advertise your company so this post has been reported.

If someone asks a way to find a quick way to get a taxi to Stansted Airport I can't see how it's wrong to tell him about my company.
Then again maybe he or you don't want to save money but that's what I thought this forum was about.

stansted is often a nightmare for security queues, you can get lucky occasionally but I generally try to be there early even if I have checked in online.Wiggly:heartpulsFB0
