You Killed it.. Nah but seriously if you can put up with the line on your display then you cant do anymore damage to it, sounds like you need a trip to PC World.....:D

I've got the same on a Sharp monitor. It's a failure of the connector strip along top or bottom, and can't economically be repaired except if the screen is large & expensive.

A fellow MSEer effected a temp repair on their one with a clothes peg, but typically they just get worse - mine now has 3 lines...

Try applying gentle pressure to the point where the red line meets the bottom of the screen to see if it alters. If it returns to normal, the try blu-tak or a clothes peg, anything to maintain the pressure at that point.

If your using Vista is your computer still within warranty? worth trying to get it repaired first!

Anything but a visit to PC World, if you take it for repair, take it someone decent!

It is still under warranty (most good TFT flat screens have a 3 year warranty), ring them up and they will organise a swap out.

Else it'll probably be a new screen as they are too expensive to repair.

Good advice from isofa, well said.;)
  • Thank you every one - the monitor is still under warranty so I think I'll take isofa's advice. At least I know I didn't do anything to cause it - thanks again

  • Don't rule out the graphics card connection as well. If you can, before ringing the monitor manufacturer see if a friend would be kind enough to lend you a monitor to test. If it doesn't occur on their monitor, then you know its the monitor for sure. Always best just to check, as would be frustrating if it re-occured on a new one
