Due to be changed in May, assuming everyone is ready, has been planned for a number of years.

Glad to see you've done research ;)

I did discover this that trasactions "should be sped up" ala the ELLE system however where does that leave me for claiming for deprevations of funds now and in the past for situations where I have had money deposited with the bank and yet on presentation of a withdrawl demand the money has not been available to me.
  • I suspect I would get laughed out of court, but why just because people have forgotten how banking really works. If the bank lent you some money and wanted to call in that loan, if you tried to say it takes 3 days for the money you lent me to get back to you, you bet you would be in court, yet when you lend it to them it's a different game.

Thanks for the advice, however if the payment leaves the card handler and the money is mine (I believe I have title of ownership) who's possesion is it in? If my bank has it and is refusing to release it to me surely they are in violation?
This post probably explains it better than I can. So you have 3 people who are holding onto the money while it's in transit. Your card handler's bank, the Bank of England, and your own bank.
