Its up to you whether to be honest or not but if the insurance company do a search, they will come up clean as they only look at the UK licence.

My hubby has a french and UK DL, one does not affect the other.

    Hi guys,

Just wondered if anybody could shed a light on my situation. I moved to the UK from Belgium 2 years ago. However, 6 months prior to my move, i was convicted of a motoring offence (involved drinking and driving... stupid, i know! :o ).
I got banned for 4 months, and my drivers licence got revoked. In order to get my drivers licence again in Belgium, i needed to redo my tests.
However, due to my moving over here, i did not bother getting in back in Belgium, but went through theoratical and practical exam over here, and obtained my full UK driving license.

My question now: when looking for insurance, they ask if you have been convicted of any motoring offences in the past 5 years. Would this apply to me, or would it count as not, as i have gotten a new full UK licence and my conviction was on my Belgian drivers licence, and happened abroad?

    Thank for any advise!

you are obliged to inform them, its not for you to decide if its relevant but for the insurer. Most insurers will just list this on the comments section of the policy, as at present there is no cross-european rating system, we use codes like sp30, ts10, dr10 etc, which would mean nothing to a foreign insurer.

The companies I have worked for have alsways listed it but never rated against it.
