Hi all,
A friend has a problem with his webcam's performance on his computer but doesn't seem to be a problem on other computers at other addresses.
I have told him to try another computer but at his address and he is yet to get back to me.
However, he has been told that you can set the web cam to use a specific port so that other internet traffic does not interfere with the quality of the webcam usage.
Is there any truth in this?
Thanx

I think it depends on the software being used with the webcam. Im not sure that any webcam software will allow you to set aside bandwidth purely for the webcam. Some Routers have this feature though.
If he's having performance issues it could be a number of things. It could be a cheap webcam, it could be a slow or unstable broadband connection, or a the pc could need a cleanup.
Russ- Google is your friend, use it :rolleyes:0 -
Ports shouldn't effect webcams, they will use ports but I don't beleive its a major factor inperformance at least.0
