Firefox not finding sites

From time to time I have had problems with Firefox (1.04, not going to 1.05 waiting for the British release of 1.06).

Clicking on a perfectly good bookmark gets ' https://www.xyz site could be found . Please check the name and try again'.

If I then clear the cache (Tools-Options-Privacy) and try again the page loads.

If anyone else has had the problem the above fixes it temporaly.
Does anyone know of a permanent fix, or why it happens.

I get this all the time too.....
I haven't found a fix yet although I suspect mine is caused by having too many tabbed windows open at the same time (all of which are trying to load simultaneously).

I had that problem a while ago and it went away

last time I looked there were big threads about it at mozillazine with various solutions.

One thing that makes it easier to cope with is enabling error pages. Instead of getting an annoying popup you have to cancel, you get an error page that has a 'try again' option on it.

Type about:config in the address bar
    find browser.xul.error_pages.enabled in the list
right-click it and select toggle (which changes it to 'true')
