For all of you people out there that possess a DIGIHOME 80 DTR, I have just found by accident a feature that isn't listed in the manual!!
The feature is the 2 minute commercial skip that I,ve heard of on other recorders (at least that's what I think it is!), by using this feature you can skip roughly 2 minutes of the commercial breaks in one press of a button.
I've scoured the manual and it doesn't mention it!
Another plus to the digihome PVR, I swear it's excellent value for money!!!!!

In your haste to make the post you have forgot to say exactly how you implement the feature. :rolleyes:0

Sorry in my excitement I forgot to say how the feature worked...........well...............when you are in playback mode and you come to the commercial break , if you look at the up...down...left ..and right buttons below the normal buttons used for the playback mode, press the right button and the playback jumps approximately 2 minutes every time (roughly the length of the commercial break)
Or press the left function button and the playback jumps back approx. 2 minutes.
Try it and see!!
Good eh???0 -
They've "fixed it" on the Digihome 160mb - the right-arrow just speeds up the playback (but I might try a few random buttons next time...).0

Maybe this should be a post in its own right but we've been looking at buying a pvr or dvd recorder or combination - and have got ourselves mighty confused! Are there any views on benefits of best system and recommendations of which to buy on a budget? thanks0

I would certainly recommend a PVR over a DVD recorder (no stack of DVD's), and a Digihome DTR80 for £85 is excellent value for money, good luck in your choice:beer:0

i have a dtr80, but no manula and no understanding of how to series record.0

I have a five-year-old Digihome PVR 80 and it is excellent.
Digihome and several over budget brands are made by a Turkish company called Vestel.
One such Vestel brand is Technika.
Tesco Outlet has a refurb one for under £40, which I reckon is brilliant value:

Bear in mind it's SCART only, so no HDMI.0 -

I agree that a PVR is much simpler and quicker. I have a dvd recorder (hard drive and disc) and it takes an age clicking buttons to set it up to record. I have both the Digihome and Humax pvr's and use them all the time as they are so quick and easy. The Digihome is obviously the cheapest but most who have both would say that the Humax is better and easier to find. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Humax-Freeview-playback-Recorder-PVR-9150T/dp/B001EBQGIO/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1316857805&sr=1-3
I appreciate you are on a budget but to 'future proof' you really should be thinking about HD as it is becoming more available. If you have a tv that receives Freeview/freesat HD or intend to get one then it is no problem. If you have a tv that will receive HD but does not have freeview/freesat HD than you will either have to get a HD set top box or a PVR with HD sauch as this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Stream-DHR8203U-Freeview-Set-top/dp/B003LLDK02/ref=pd_sim_sbs_ce6I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0 -

Circle navi buttons, up/down - 30 second jump, left/right - 2 mins.
<< and >> at top 2x.4x 8x etc fast forward.
If your digihome box becomes laggy, hold the physical power button on the box itself for around 5-10 seconds, it forces a 'reboot' with a disk scan. Saves having to unplug and replug it.
Also turning off the timeshift feature will free up some extra space
And to stop scrolling through millions of items, when viewing the tv guide or your recordings, PR + and - jumps up and down by page.
Manual : http://www.hitachiserviceeu.com/scripts/userguide.php/HDR080_EN.pdf Different case, same menu system.0
