Thank you everyone! I am definitely taking things further on monday if the cheque does not arrive tomorow.
I found this site that suggest ET1 claim Forms to take further action

CAB first thing monday morning, better than using a solicitor.

A phone call from a CAB officer is very effective usually.

OP ~ if you dont have the cheque by Monday call them and threaten with legal procedings ~ he is taking the pish to the n'th degree ~ gotta get your n more Mr Nice Guy hat on

happened to me once when id left a dept store. i went to uni out the area and waited till end of oct and didnt get paid... i called payroll and they said 'as uve left u dont get paid...' i said 'WHAT? im owed a whole months wages'. then after bare arguin she said she will put it through so i get it end of nov... she said 'i shouldnt be doing this'. i said 'yes u should as its what im owed!'. i did get it end of nov and wrote them a letter and they ignored it.

As they have illegally withheld your OH's salary, tell them that unless you get the cheque within 48 hours you will be taking the appropriate legal action, the costs for which they will be liable for.

Right.... There was no cheque Friday so I assumed he didnt get to the post office in time to ask for recorded delivery, however saturday morning the postman delivered a cheque! WOOOHOOO i thought I'll put in the bank straight away and we can cash against it and pay some of our bills

THEN.......

i looked at the date cheques dated 6/2/08 and the envelope (a pre paid one) was dated 'post by 7/2/08' <<<< may have something to do with y it took soooo long to arrive cos they told me they didnt post the first letter until monday evening 11/2/08!!!!
Anyway I am now thinking that this is the original cheque that has been cancelled and we now have to wait till post comes on monday before the 'new' cheque arrives.

At least now I know that they do have an intention of paying my OH his wage I just wish they put it straight into his bank like most normal companies do or put it in with his wage slip or even just posted the cheque through our door as on of their company bases is not too far from where we live. Would of saved us all a lot of phone calls wasted time and hassle!!!!
