Budget Insurance Nightmare!

I changed to 'Budget' insurance last year as they were slightly cheaper on the quote than Direct Line, whom I had always been very happy with.
On 8th Jan this year I registered a claim with Budget, it is still being dealt with by AXA and their underwriters today (14th Feb). They are now disputing my 'value of risk' and it will take at least another month for them to sort out according to them...
The problem is my renewal is up 17th Feb, I have been given an extortionate renewal that doesn't even count the claim going through currently, but because there is a claim going through I can't change companies! The renewal has more than tripled and I'm tied in, the people I spoke to at AXA were completely unsympathetic, I am incredibly frustrated.
Basically, to reinforce what has been said on here before -
Don't sacrifice service for a lower cost!
It is causing undue stress and cost down the line.
Oh, and avoid Budget like the plague...

It seems a bit harsh to be blaming Budget for something any other insurer would do. Your NCD is reduced/removed pending the outcome of the claim. You pay the higher amount and claim that back once the claim is settled in your favour. That is normal and it wouldnt matter who you are with.
The claim was registered on 8th Jan and we are just over 1 month from that date and you are in dispute over value. Again, nothing unusual there with any insurer.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
