Dear All,
Good afternoon. I have only just joined this Forum and having read some of the earliers posts am already on a DMP through CCCS (one month so far) and am not really looking for budgeting advice at the moment hence no financial details.
The purpose of my posting is that most of my creditors have agreed to the offers made on my behalf by the CCCS and have frozen interest etc (a big thanks to Alliance & Leicester, Barclaycard and Egg). However, I keep receiving telephone calls from a company calling iteself RMA (acting on behalf of MBNA) and I cannot find any information about them. I wonder if anyone has any experience of dealing with RMA and if you have any helpful tips on how to handle them. Any help will be much appreciated as I think that RMA are going to be pushy and a difficult outfit to deal with.
I have just heard from CCCS that Cahoot are no longer dealing with my account but Cahoot have failed to let CCCS have any details as to where this debt has gone. Does anyone have any idea as to whom Cahoot use for collections? The same is likely to apply to Abbey with whom I had my current account and which I have now transferred to the Halifax.
I do accept responsibility for my situation and have every intention of paying back all of my creditors but just need some time and some help to get things back on track. Basically my story is that I had some credit card debts which I consolidated into a personal loan and very foolishly failed to cancel the credit cards and have ended up using them to pay household bills etc. Now at the point where I needed to break out of this vicious cycle of robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Look forward to your replies with grateful thanks.

Hi
Your story and how you have ended up here sounds pretty much the same as mine. I am glad to hear that CCCS have been a help to you as I am awaiting my interview with them at the beginning of August. How long did it take from the time of your interview with them for them to sort out a DMP?0 -

Hi Penguin,
The CCCS have been really very good and it didn't take them very long to prepare the DMP, I think it was no longer than two weeks from my submitting my details. The CCCS are very much, ..."don't worry about it..." but I am pretty jumpy about being contacted by creditors over the phone. Good luck with your interview, let us know how you get on.0 -
Well yes, I must say that I am pretty jumpy about the whole thing! I don't know if you read my original thread frm earlier - "I need Advice".
Did you cancel DD to creditors before you spoke to CCCS?0 -
No, I haven't read your earlier thread and will look into it.
I spoke with the CCCS first and then cancelled my dd mandates and at the same time, sent out proforma notices of a DMP to all creditors.
MBNA want me to increase my monthly offer but the CCCS say, "no way" and not let them bully me. Anyway, I have resolved that I will consult with the CCCS on absolutely everything because I cannot favour one creditor over another.0 -
Yes I am going to write to my creditors tonight - they are both my bank and thankfully on CCCS's advice I changed my bank account two weeks ago and so they can't start lifting money out of my current account. I suspect that they are going to start harrassing me. Did you send them token payments to keep them happy before CCCS took hold.
I might have to log off in a minute but I will respond to your reply as soon as I can.0 -
Many thanks Penguin, I have taken a quick look at your other thread but will read it more carefully later this afternoon. Look forward to hearing from you again. I am keen to understand who RMA are and how best to handle them.
I didn't send token payments to my creditors because the CCCS were quite quick in issuing offers on my behalf.
I think that I shall buy a lottery ticket for tomorrow evening's draw. Well you never know!!0 -
MBNA as themselves or as a psuedo debt collection company are well known as difficult to deal with. They will keep chasing you but refuse to pay any more. If they threaten court action don't worry, its 99% a bluff. In the unlikely event it goes to court you would almost certainly be ordered to pay the CCCS arranged payment. Although it is a hassle going to court to deal with it, it can actually be worth it in the long run just to get them off your back.

Thanks Xbigman, I will remember your advice when I next deal with RMA/MBNA over the phone and I think that I will refer them to the CCCS creditors hotline.

Not quite sure speedyjoe as I have only spoken with them over the telephone. I think that I should ask them to write and confirm that they are acting on behalf of MBNA as it could be anyone phoning and asking for my security details.0
