The chipset determines if it will work with xp sp2.

Texas instrument chipsets work with xp sp2 while via chipsets do not.

Via chipsets work with xp sp1.

Cant tell what the chipset is on these.

This card is based on VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller.

Does that mean then that it wont work on my pc which has XP SP2?

Can anyone else confirm this please.

I just installed the card and it works perfectly.
I have winxp sp2, no problem at all.
No driver needed. Turn computer off>install the card>turn the computer on, full stop.
The one i bought from ebay was faulty, this one prove it.
It's brand new boxed, comes with a nice transparent cable and software(ulead video studio DV version 5).

Worked fine for me as well.

Up and running in 10 mins - got free postage as well as I ordered it with the cheap playstation/x-box games I saw on a different thread.
  • I oredered the same FireWire card from Amazon on Friday the 20th, the postage was £5.75 though and the supplier was whats4sale. The money was taken from my bank account on the 21st but to date there's no sign of the FireWire card. I've been in touch with Amazon who've directed me to the email address of the supplier whats4sale@yahoo.co.uk.
    Anyone got theirs yet?
