3 and ending contract

I am a wee bit miffed to say the least!
I wrote to end my contract, giving them 30 days notice. They phoned me and whilst I was juggling dinner/ work etc they offered me various deals, I was getting a bit ratty (veggies over cooking) and I said 'gotta go.I'll think about it.
I got a bill for the next month.
Turns out by saying, I'll think about it means, that I had cancelled the notice to end the contract! I was not told this at the time..... I rarely make decisions at the time, prefering to umm ahd ahhh for days whilst I go through the pros and cons! Tm me it meant, I'll think about it ...the cancellation is in place and should I choose to stay I can call you back.
I had decided to PAYG .....but now stung for another months contract! Main reason for leaving is that it expensive and far too many mins texts downloads for my needs.

Did you state on the letter the contract termination date? I do know that they have to put a request in, so ask if that has been done. Did you use the phone at all after your termination date?
I gave our 30 days notice on 2 three contracts today and asked her about a hundred times the definite contract termination date and when my last bill would be. I always do it by phone (end the contract to get a cheaper cashback deal everytime) and they have told me for the last three years that no letter is needed (but it should be as good as a phone call imo)0 -
Yes I did state date ....its not arrived yet, so phone is deff in use!! I have always done this in writing, (my third year of cash back deals) this is the first time I have come across this. The first time I used 3 , I think they did not have an Indian hard sell call centre......they are very good at their jobs!
In the past the sim just stopped working on the required date. I never bothered with PACs just got a new cashback deal.
Be prepared ....fore warned is fore armed!0 -

So are you still using the contract that you have 'cancelled'?0 -

you have given them notcie so you dont have to pay them for the month that they have now billed you for
you in effect stated that if you wanted to change you mind about cancelling the contract then you would contact them after they had called you to try and get you to stay
they have no eveidence wether in writing or by telephone call to state that you were staying
at the end of the day its down to them to prove that you wanted to stay and not the other way round
just send the bill back to them stating that you gave them required contract notice period that that you weill not be paying for the service 30 days from the date of the posted letter.
obviously dont use the phone after the 30 day period and get a pac code if you want to keep you number to transfer to another mobile provider0 -
Kill Bill has given you good advice.
Three are an awful company to deal with due to their ability of transferring you to India and the UK call centres when it suits them.
Due to my previous troubles with Three I strongly suggest that:
1. Any letters you send to them you send them using recorded delivery
2. In any letters or emails you send to them you state that you will take them to court and they will be liable for all costs if the breach of contract is not resolved. Also give them a timescale to answer you by.
3. If they don't do what you want and you don't want to pay court fees do a data subject access request under the Data Protection Act 1998 as it's cheaper. At the end of your request state you will report them to the Information Commissioner and take them to court - They will phone you up constantly asking you what exactly you want and may sort out your complaint as it's easier (and cheaper) then giving you the information you want. If they don't they will send you part of your records. After sending you part of your records ask for your full records and if they don't send them then report them to the Information Commissioner. This is a lot of hassle for them so they are very likely to sort your complaint out as they know your next step will be to take them to court.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Im getting really confused here. I know that I will get a bill after my contract has ended as you use the phone for a month then pay. If you are still in the final month then isn't it right to get a bill? So sorry if I have misunderstood. I have been with three since they started and have never had a problem cancelling, although don't like their move to Indian call centres (as some seem to be reading from a script and don't have a clue what they are trying to ask you!)
I don't think i'll be staying with three either as there are no good cashback deals on for them atm.0 -
I have 3, the most recent bill I have is dated 6th of Feb, there is basic rental charge for 6th FEB- 5th March.
The bill covers all my calls and texts for month upto 6th feb and had I gone over my allowance then I would have been billed on top of next months rental charges.
Check your bill.0
