hopeless in getting cashback from Canon

Options
Hi everyone. Can anyone help please?))) I have purchased 2 A7110 Canon power shot cameras in their promotions in May 2007.For each camera I correctly claimed their offered cash back £50.I have been trying to get it for whole 7 months and only 3 weeks ago I finally got my cheque. But only for one camera. So I contacted them again and was told that I cant claim the other camera under my name so stated my partner name and was told they will send the money.Instead of the chq i got a letter saying that they discussed my matter with their Head office and told me i am not entitled to have the cashback on second camera because their conditions(which I cant find)clearly states Only one claim per person and one claim per purchase may be made.Dont know how to act now, cant find the terms and conditions.Am i entitled for the cash back for the second camera? Thanks a lot for all replies.

That's a nasty little clause, if it exists.

Did you submit a single receipt with both cameras on it? This may be the reason why they are being difficult with you. One receipt equals one purchase-technically.

All the same, this is certainly not in the spirit of the offer.

Might be worth posting your query on the canon talk forum on dpreview.co.uk as there will be a lot of people who have done the cashback deal before. I am still waiting for £50 from them for my eos 400d. Still no email after about a month, and cost me about a fiver to send recorded to Ireland, so £45 cashback in a way!

    Hello,
I'm having the same problem with a canon pixma MP210 printer. We bought 2 in November (on same receipt) and I phoned and asked if I needed to fill in two cashback forms. I was told that I did and duly sent them off. I received a letter back saying that they would be unable to process two claims in my husbands name, so could we supply an alternative name for the cheque to be made payable to, which we did. We received a cheque for one amount of cashback at the beginning of January, but have not received the second amount, despite numerous phonecalls and now a letter stating that I will take further action if I do not receive a cheque in a few days. I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle here and the terms and conditions are not clear.

You could ask them to send you a copy of the T&Cs. I did this on a completely unrelated thing with a credit card following their insistence that I didn't follow them.

When they admitted they couldn't send the T&Cs with that clause, they admitted I was correct and paid out.

If their T&Cs are as they state however... :(

    Hello again,
Just felt I needed to update this to say that following my strong letter, a cheque has now been received for the outstanding cashback!:T

I'm not quite feeling like putting this on the five star service board though, due to the timescale involved, but credit where it's due and all that....

I recently received a £60 cheque for the purchase of an EOS 40d. It took under a month to get it.

I'm not aware of the specific T&Cs for your offer, but those for mine state one claim per product and one claim per form. I can't see anything excluding claiming for 2 of the same product, or anything to say something like 'One claim per household.'

The only thing I wonder about is the process of providing the original receipt. You obviously can't do that when submitting 2 claims at the same time. You'd have to submit one claim, wait for them to return the paperwork, then submit another.

All the above is academic, however, as you have now got the cashback. :T
