I just received this printer today and on trying to install it keeps getting stuck part way through.
I have tried installing with the printer connected with the usb cable, without, with firewall/anti virus on and off and still get the same problem. It says:-

(Hope I posted image right)
I have been trying for over 3 hours to install it and am getting to the end of my tether.
Thanks for any assistance.

Did you create a restore point before you started? Yes, roll it back. No, try this.
Open control panel/add remove programes and see if there is anything with your new printer already loaded. If there is delete it. Re-boot your PC.
Do not connect to the internet
Follow the instructions by disabling the firewall and antivirus etc if asked to.
Load the software on first and then connect the USB cable when asked?
Place the USB in a slot on the back of the PC, they are more powerfull than the front ones. This could make a difference.
Have your windows disk or restore disk to hand as this problem might be a windows missing or corrupt file.
Now try the disk again.
Good luck.
Pimpers.
If problems still exist send an email to HP and you should get a response quite quickly.Enjoy life, it's the only one you've got!!0 -
I am sorted now - one of my files was out of date and a friend copied the right one for me.

I tend to keep my printer switched off unless I need to print something, the first month or so no problems, but now every time I turn on my printer it acts as it I am adding a new printer and I have to go through all the installation process again (though have now realised I can keep cancelling and eventually it is accepted). Sometimes I don't use for a couple of days, switch on and it can take 15 mins or so until it is ready to print. If I check in add/remove it is there and all the desk icons are still showing
Can anyone suggest why it has started doing this and any way around this other than leaving my printer on all the time?0 -
are you "loggin on" as a different user each time?0
