Avoid Opodo!!
I had a hotel reservation booked via Opodo and needed to cancel.
I call the Opodo customer help line (10p/ min) after about a 10 min wait (that's a pound allready!) I get told that on top of the US$25 cancellation fee stated in the email they were also charging me a £25 administration fee. So to cancel my weekend break hotel I have to pay a total of £38!!!
I find it absolutely outrageous!
The terms and condition stated in my email confirmation
Terms & Conditions Opodo Best Rate Guaranteed Changes to or cancellation of this reservation prior to 24 hours of arrival date will be charged a 25.00 USD fee. Changes to or cancellation of this reservation within 24 hours of arrival date will result in an additional charge per room of 1 night(s) room rate plus tax. No refunds for unused nights, including those resulting from delayed check-in or early check-out, will be given.
To me that only indicates that if I cancel I have to pay the US$25, fair enough.
But for Opodo to then say that I need to pay an additional £25 administration fee ARGH!!!
Please be aware of this if you choose to book with Opodo, I will never book with them again.
Regards,
Mike

IMO, you should have argued that, as it doesn't state it in the T's&C's, how can they charge it..
unless, the admin charge is in a different part of the T's&C's than you posted...0 -
Apparently there is a different T&C on their web page that states that they can charge a £25 administration fee ( it does, I've checked) however I still believe that since the T&C stated in the email they sent to me (which did not refer to any other T&C) should be the one that is valid. How many T&C can they have, would take me a life time to go through them all.
Anyway I just think that £38 is way too much to charge for a cancellation that is made more than two weeks before the arrival date. The total cost for the hotel would have been £180 so that's a 21% cancellation fee...
Just want to make people aware of this charge if they are planning of booking with Opodo.

Frankly, the value of the hotel booking is irrelevant. They have had to do a fixed amount of work for your booking and subsequent cancellation. I don't have any issue with a fee being charged, but that fee should have been made clearer up-front and I don't understand how two separate fees can be involved.0

They are way too expensive for me anyway - the same hotels on other booking sites are much cheaper IMO.0

Outrageous charges by Opodo, as ejones999 says their hotels are too expensive.
I work for a hotel booking company and on most of our hotels if they are cancelled more than 72 hours prior to arrival there is no charge.
Seems odd that they are now trying to add another charge not mentioned in their T&Cs. I wouldn't just accept it I would try to speak to a Supervisor and tell them you are not happy with 2nd charge and are only willing to pay 1:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j
