A&L 5% 1 year fixrate bond

Has anyone managed to open this, I rang and was told to arrange an appointment at the branch;(I think to sell other products).I asked for an application form,they don`t issue, left my tele no. for local branch to call.

Did you see the small print for the 5% rate?
"Rates effective from 01/07/05. Monthly interest only available for balances over £2,500. The 1 year Fixed Rate Plus Bond will mature on 15/08/06 and is only available to mortgage, Premier & Premier Plus customers."

Anyone who has`nt got one of these accounts gets the 4.2% rate.

It's no different to Nationwide doing similar bonds which are only available to long-term members. The small print didn't seem that small to me!

On the website, interestingly, the 5% rate isn't mention anywhere except the plus benefits page which is actually quite hard to find. It's here: http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/plus-section/index.asp?page=home. The normal savings section just refers to the 4.2% rate.

Just received a full current acc application pack for new applicant, I told them I was an existing prem acc cust. No application form for the 5%fixed bond enclosed. It seems I could open a tin can with my teeth easier than this bond.
