Siemens or Neff?

Any opinions on which is best for double oven and hob (induction...I think, unless anyone tells me they are not all they are cracked up to be?)
The models I am looking at do much the same, cost much the same and look much the same although I did read 2 bad reviews on the Neff model specifically. I cant find reviews on the Siemens model.

All I know is that my GF designs kitchens for a living and she would say Siemens every time. Apparently in her showroom Neff is referred to as 'Naff Neff'.0

Lol. Thanks MrBear, it was Siemens I was leaning towards but most of the showrooms I've seen all do Neff and Smeg so that was bothering me a bit.0

Hi there, just lookin at new kitchen appliances myself, and as far as we can gather/ been told that Neff, Siemens and Bosch all produced by the same company - so we have been told!! This may or may not help...0

yes all BSH group but only siemens top notch as bosch and neff now not what they were. threw bosch out of showroom a few yrs ago, some cracking deals on siemens pryro oven/ induction hob packs if memory serves0

I was watching 'Grand Designs' the other day and in one kitchen they had put in a Siemens double oven, it was side by side instead of a 'stack', it was really nice.0

I might have to reconsider.
The Siemens double oven, hood and 90cm induction hob I wanted are coming in at around £2,200 - £2,500. I'm not sure I can justify that.
AEG has just been recommended to me and after doing a search on the double oven, I've found several really good reviews on it. It's around £300 or more cheaper than the Siemens oven. There's also a 70cm AEG induction hob that says it can cook as many pans as you can fit on the hob as it doesn't have defined rings as such.
Again it's a whole load cheaper than Siemens but I'm not sure if it would just be false economy?0 -
AEG are part of Electrolux. I know which company I would rather have.
I bought all my appliances online from Kitchen Science and Appliance City and John Lewis. I have Miele and Siemens throughout and cannot recommend them enough. If you are buying more than 2 appliances, Kitchen Science will do a deal with you. If your negotiating skills are good you could get quite a discount. Good Luck.0 -
My Preference for appliances would go
Gaggenau
Miele/Imperial
Kuppersbusch (check out their amazing hexagonal modular hob).
Siemens
Bosch/Neff
AEG/Smeg/Zanussi
Though in reality it depends on quite what you are buying. Smeg for instance do fantastic fridges and stainless steel sinks but I must admit their ovens are pretty rank (just replaced 2 single ovens that never really did a good job).
If I had the cash it would be Gaggneau but Miele come a close second. I'm gradually replacing my stuff with Miele as they tend to offer good warranty.
Checkout some of the rising stars such as fischer and Paykal who are big in New zealand and have some really innovative applicances (like the Drawer dishwasher).
If you don't mind used/ex display you can pick up some great deals on whole kitchens with appliances (search for Miele in ebay).
The comments made about Neff/Bosch not being what they once were are true in my opinion. Gone are the days of great German quality for them. Miele on the other hand are top drawer and they own Imperial who were even better.
For washing machines and dishwashers Miele win hands down esecially as they offer 10 year warranties on some of them.
My top tip though is to shop around. There are massive price differences and some dealers will be cheaper for some but not others.
I trawled the web for weeks and got a complete list of the best deals I could find. Went to a local kitchen supplier and they matched the price on virtually everything.
Another good move is to wait for the Ideal Home Exhibition show because some suppliers who exhibit will offer deals on the appliances actually being displayed.
Good luck.0 -
Meant to ask what it is you are looking for (as in do you have a particular requirement) is the hob 60cm or 80 (or above ?)
Have you considered to single ovens instead ?
Maybe you could start a 'best kitchen deals' debate...
It's sad but I am always interested in what kitchen appliances are around - drives my wife mad:o . I was lucky enough to get hold of a Miele Coffee machine and Miele Plate warmer at a great price. These have been the star buys for me and 5000 cofees later it is still going strong.0 -

Not looking for anything set in stone really. Hob has to be electric (preferably frameless and preferably bigger than 60cm) and induction.
I fancied a 5 zone this time as we often have to juggle pans as a 4 zone just isn't enough but a lot of five zones are really only 4 zones which cook and one which 'keeps warm'. The Siemens one I found has 5 cooking zones. However, I have now just realised that the cutout required for this hob would need me to cut away part of the sides of the 90cm drawer unit it is to be sited above, so I've gone off it slightly.
I found an AEG 74cm hob which is just divided into 4 quarters rather than actual rings so if you can fit 2 small pans onto one quarter, then you can cook them both. This seemed a good compromise, but it's bothering me that it is AEG as I have not had any dealings with AEG appliances before.
I want a Siemens double oven (has to go into a tall appliance housing). I did consider a single oven but my family sometimes come and go at different times depending on where they have to be after work etc and it wouldn't be the first time someone is trying to make cheese on toast before running out the door whilst I have the oven on for dinner. I did consider a single oven with a combi microwave but I've never been overly impressed with the ones we've had previously. The cheapest price I've found for the Siemens is £1041 (HB56M550B_SS btw).
The hood needs to be stainless steel, 90cm, curved, and quiet (preferably a fair bit less than 60db). I liked the Siemens one but again it's pricey. I'm not keen on compromising on the oven but I would on a hood if I found something else that fitted the bill and was cheaper.
I already have an American f/f, we're getting a free dishwasher which may well be rubbish, I dont know.....I've not had a dishwasher before, but being free it's welcome to come stay awhile anyway.
I really cant afford top quality appliances as I have so much to buy throughout the house, but nor do I want the cheapest as I feel buying cheap is often false economy.
I got a quote from Kitchen Science as suggested by windym...if you buy 3 or more appliances they will discount. For 3 Siemens appliances..double oven/90cm hob and hood, they offered 10% off but the total was still £2600.
I wish I could be the millionth customer somewhere and get them as a pressie.....:rotfl:
It's difficult to know what to go for really.0
