Snack & Go

Options
Half way thru half term and I feel like I'm forever washing pots. My DW is broken and I feel I no sooner clear and tidy one lot of dishes, then they are wanting feeding again and I have another load of pots to wash. I'm looking for some ideas for snacks and possibly meals that are minimal washing up. So far I've got

scones
cereal bars
crisps
toast
fruit
vegetable samosas

meals I'm struggling more for as I've only thought of
jacket potato with tuna (and 1 child doesn't like potato).

Help please.

Probably not what you are after but my mum has small bread boards (was probably one big one that was broken down into 3 smaller ones) and after making our lunch, we would eat it on the board and then just give it a dust and wipe ready for next time.

Obviously most suitable for 'no mess sandwiches' or breakfast's 'tea and toast!'

    ?

Actually I do have a snack tray, a Sponge Bob and a Dora one for both children. I bought it in canada and it has various different shape hollows to put stuff like that in. I will dig them out.

Not forgetting that the interior pages of magazines, esp pre wrapped junk mail ones, are untouched by human hand.

When a page gets dirty, just turn it over :)

When all the pages are used up - bin it.

You could resort to cheap paper plates!

Or just a piece of kitchen roll on a plate, then just wipe over with a dishcloth and away you go!

Or.. how old are your children. Are they old enough to do some dishes for you? If you are going to do that then you may have to expect they won't do it to dishwasher standard, but they need to learn. Perhaps they could do breakfast if that isn't too greasy. THey'll probably police each other anyway as to standard.... mine make a thing about sending something back to the '
before ' heap if it's substandard... gets a bit competitive. Never thought of dishwashing as competitive before!

My Mum and Gran used to make 'Sea Palling stew' - so called from the days when they used to go to Sea Palling for holiday and had only one burner and one saucepan.

Basically make a stew from some chopped up beef and simmer it gently for a couple of hours. (or, for quickness, use one of those tins of ready cooked stewing steak). Then add all the veg - potatoes, carrots etc. and continue to simmer for about an hour. It's actually delicious - particularly if served in bowls with chunks of home made bread.

Fortunately when our new kitchen was being built, we persuaded the builders it was absolutely vital we had the dishwasher in on temporary plumbing!
