I have no experience of them so can't comment on the service.
The price is very similar to what the solicitors in my area are charging, personally I'd prefer to go with a local firm of solicitors. The Tesco HIP appears to be arranged by MyHomeMove conveyancing, check whether the price of £297 + VAT is conditional on you using the conveyancing service as well. You may be able to get a better deal locally.0 -
interesting, cheers dude, will ask when they ring!!0

I've PMed you funkyfin.
I echo Jordan's sentiments. Its important to check if the HIP is a standalone offering or if you are committing yourself into either an estate agency, a conveyancing deal or another ancillary service.
Also, I would check with them whether they will renew your searches for free if your buyers solicitor queries their age by the time the HIP lands on their desk. Anything over 4-6 months old generally results in the solicitor ordering it themselves which may delay your sale. Tesco may insure their HIPs as an incentive for Solicitors to NOT repeat the search but this is no substitute for protecting your buyer by having a new search done.
Also, ask if they include the Home Use and Contents forms as standard or if this is extra - lots of useful info in these documents which again may save time later on. It costs them no extra money to include them.Happy to help with HIPs and EPCs0 -

i have just used the above company (lane energy assesors) for my hip and found them to be very professional, provide a very comprehensive service and would definitely recommend them.

A lot of travelling there, Chriserenity... Bawtry - Sheffield, ...Bawtry - Chesterfield - you get around!
Seriously, when you did your very first EPC for me in Doncaster MBC area you were the nearest I could find - there was someone else I found in Rotherham, but I thought it was too far to drag him and he would reasonably charge extra for travelling, so you got the job...
As a matter of interest do you charge mileage or any extra if you go beyond a certain distance?RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
hmmmm thanks for the info guys and the pm..
lane energy assesors sounds interesting upon research and like Richard Webster says, would there be any additional cost due to my location? Staffordshire? That might take it out of contention and use someone else, but they look good!!!!0 -

Thanks for the positive review Glen!
Yes Richard, we like to keep busy!
If we're travelling over 30-35 for a single job (i.e. not two or more along the route) we do charge a little more to cover fuel costs but only up to a point. If its over a certain distance we call on one of our colleagues to perform the EPC for us. Three reasons for this.
One, cost of petrol - I'm sure everyone can relate to this one!
Two, we try to promote ourselves as environmentally friendly so driving all the way down to London to do one EPC would be hypocritical considering the point of the EPC is to cut carbon!
Three, doing EPCs requires good local knowledge so if we took instructions way outside our 'patch' we'd be less likely to have the necessary information on where things like conservation areas and smoke control zones are. Therefore it makes sense for a local assessor to do the job as they have that info!

On a related point we plan to go 100% electric with our vehicles in the next year as petrol prices show no sign of falling. The electricity for the cars will be produced from renewable sources. We're waiting for batteries to become available at a cost effective price with the range we demand at which point our 'driveable' range may extend.Happy to help with HIPs and EPCs0 -
Excellent info actually Chris and again I have responded to your PM.
Good to know you could cover my area tooo!
Brilliant news!
Look forward to hearing from you.

Which company - are you a member of an auditing or redress scheme like IPPA or HIP Code? You email URL goes through to a Virgin website.
Btw, trawling for old threads about HIPs and posting your prices on them will earn you few favours with the moderators here.Happy to help with HIPs and EPCs0
