credit score advice!

Can anyone help me please - I have taken Martin's advice and check my credit score on the 30 day free trial. Could anyone explain to me as I still cannot understand my credit scoring which states I am considered as a 'fair' risk with a figure of 827 out of 1000 :confused:

    Have you checked your credit FILE? That's the important bit, a credit SCORE is only a companies interpretation of your file and other details. It you have a SCORE that is showing fair, you need to look at your FILE so you can determine why.

    My guess is that there are some missed payments etc... on your file. If you have done the 30 day trial that should include a free copy of your credit file... at least from one of the 3 credit agencies. Check that and see it what they is stated there is true, if it isn't tell the agency about it.

    me too - I have tried to apply for credit in certain places and have been told that I have a negative report on my credit yet when I checked this it seems okay with the above vredit score of 827 - surely that is not a bad score???

    I am definitely confused!!!:confused::confused:

    Hi thanks for your advice - I have checked my credit file and apart from 2 late payments which have been paid in full together with a correction inserted from myself - it does not appear to anything negative on all the records...

  • The score helps and gives an indication of how your credit file looks but it is actually your credit file itself with all your "debts" listed that are the clincher if you will get the credit or not.

    Any late payments (not a one off late payment though, I am pretty sure of that), or irregular payments, defaults or any other poor conduct of credit will work against getting more credit.

    By a late payment I mean that when you look at the bottom of the debt info they display 00000001000000 now that means there is one late payment. Its not good but will not be detrimental.

    However it it looks like this 00100100321000001001
    That is not good at all and will stop from getting more or new credit.
