Hi
I've just bought a laptop for my daughter but I can't get on the wireless network.
The laptop picks up the modem but then it goes to acquiring netwrok address and stalls, nothing happens.
I hope someone can help me out there.
I bought it off a friends and he should me everything and it worked at his house, so I am going wrong somewhere.

Thanks
Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

  • Maybe he put a security code in when he set it up, have you tried talking to the modem IT support. I forget my own code and I spoke to Belkin who took me through to a page in order to get the code.

You will need to give more information about the make and type of wireless router that you are using and what you have done to set it up.

Click that link and enter name and password

    Name: admin
    Password: password

That should get you into router settings.

Then look for "Wireless Settings" and key.

Have you logged into your router to set it up? Have you changed the SSID so that you know that you are trying to connect to your own router and not someone else's? Have you set up WPA-PSK encryption to make your wireless network secure. All of this is explained in the user manual.

If your friend was on SKY and you are not.

You will have to update the router firmware.

    If it's a DG834v3

Have a look at the manual:

    ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/DG834v3_RM01_27Oct06.pdf

If not have a look here and find the correct model:
