Bath Towels

Hi, does anyone out there have a recommendation for where to buy good thick bath towels. Many of mine are looking holey and very thin. I have had them a long time though. I saw some nice hotel quality ones in M&S but they where £25 each.

Thank you for your help.

Asda have some lovely, thick fluffy bath towels and bath sheets. They are about £5.99.Got some at Xmas and they wash beautifully and come up thick and fluffy everytime.

if you've a nearby Primark, they do lovely ones, they're called Ultra Soft I think (look out for that on the label, their others are not so good) & are £5 for a bath towel & £7 for a bath sheet
I've tried various others from supermarkets & 'budget' shops & those are far & away the nicest & most hardwearing

they occasionally do bundles with 'Ultra something-or-other' on the packing, but they're not as nice, so avoid those

EDIT ... wasn't having a go at your recommendation juniee, I started typing my reply before 8am, I'm sooo slow! :o

I still have Christy towels, only now starting to look a bit scruffy after 19 years. Our M&S ones which are 11 years are as good as new.

  • i've had the M&S ones before and wasn't impressed. Went really scruffy after a year. You'd expect a hell of a lot more for the price.

I too would recommend the Asda, fab price and kept their thickness.

I haven't tried them myself but what about Tesco towels?

I'm currently using Dunhelm ones as they where the only place that had raspberry colours that I wanted - absolutely useless, fluff everywhere, out of shape, nasty, nasty.
  • I use brown tesco one's and they're useless! Every time I dry myself I end up covered in brown fluff! So bad I went and bought the Primark ultrasoft one's and they're fab, no fluff and wash really well.

I'm still using M&S bath towels that we were given as wedding presents 27 years ago. And yes, we use them every day (in case anyone thinks we're a smelly bunch).

I've tried Tesco and it took a long time to wash them in and they did give off a lot of fluff for a while.

I had a couple of M&S ones and also a couple of John Lewis and they went tatty very quickly. The M&S also didn't seem to absorb water - they just sort of distributed it round my body.

The ones I use at the moment are Christy and they wash up fab every time. There are getting a tad roughish though, as I never use fabric conditioner, but at least I can dry off quickly with them.

Is it possible to use a touch of vinegar as a fabric conditioner with towels to soften them up a bit?

I have the BHS luxury ones - a Christmas pressie from my mum for our new ensuite. They are gorgeous....for best results, tumble dry them!!

I know it sounds really extravagant, but I've got Ralph Lauren towels. I've had them seven years and they are still in great condition.

I think that most of the high end department stores stock them, and they aren't a lot more than other brands?! x
    Gone ... or have I?
