Prepaid Debit/credit Cards

in Credit cards
I am unable to get a credit card and also I no longer have a Switch card, I am seriously thinking of getting a prepaid card, and have already looked at various comparison sites. I actually think it would be cheaper in the long run to get rid of my bank account (due to ridiculous charges) and pay possibly only (up to) £10 per month for the use of a prepaid card. Instead of being charged £38 per item when funds not in on time !! ( I have already successfully reclaimed £1,950 in charges and presently have a claim in for £637, but due to test case, this is on hold!) I do shop on the internet and to get good deals via the internet, but am a bit stuck without a switch card, although I do have a paypal account.
Has anyone used prepaid cards ? Pros & Cons? let me know

From my research a few weeks ago, the Talk Sport card seems like the best deal.
No transaction fees, no monthly fees. Card costs a tenner, and reloads are 70p at the post office, regardless of the amount.
It's a maestro card, so the only limitations will be the places that accept maestro. It's chip and pin too, so there should be absolutely no trouble using it in shops etc. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
Thanks for that, good to see no transaction fees, as they can bump up the cost if used a lot. I will have a look at it0

I have a talksport one, cons are topping up money, if i pay in by at the post office takes 24 working hours to clear (if on a Friday wont clear until Monday sometimes Tuesday) Pro of post office is only 75p to top up. If topping up by a paypoint or online it take a % which can work out to be a fair bit which i feel is a con but the pro is the money is there within a couple of hours.
General Pros are you can only use whats in there. Wont be using much longer as the bank are sending me a maestro card. Hope this helpsNever take things for granted0 -
Great help, just had a look at the talksport site, it does seem to be one the of the better ones, and I have never seen it in the comparison tables, think I might go for it! just a bit scared incase terms & conditions change in near future.0

Does anyone know if you can use these cards for things like car hire and hotels in the USA?Martin Lewis is always giving us advice on how to force companies to do things.
How about giving us advice on how to remove ourselves from any part of MoneySupermarket.com
I hereby withdraw any permission Martin might have implied he gave MoneySupermarket.com to use any of my data. Further more, I do not wish ANY data about me, or any of my posts etc to be held on any computer system held by MoneySupermarket.com or any business it has any commercial interests in.0
