Not clued up on the Abbey account, but have closed and transferred into a new account with other societies. You will get the owed interest - this will be calculated and added in when you close the account. Would recommend you open the new account first, using your existing esaver account as proof of identity. Some on-line accounts give you the option of where the funds from the closed account should go and may give you the choice of moving it into the new Hisave account (I'm asuming this is also with Abbey?).0

I've found the following on the official Abbey website. It features under the 'How To..' section. How do I...close an account.Abbey.com wrote:In order to close an Abbey account, you must visit your local branch and hand in all cheque books and cards held on the account. Find your nearest branch.
If you are unable to visit a branch, you may inform us in writing. Please send your request to:

On account closure, the funds and interest (accrued up to that date), will be paid out. If you are sticking with Abbey, but just opening a different account with them, then the funds and interest should be transferred over to the new account. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
