Has someone hacked into my ebay account

Hi,

just wondring if anyone clould shed any light

My husband was up late last night on e bay watching a few bits were selling, anyway when i woke this morning i checked to see how we were doing and i noticed he`d put about 6 camping item into `items im watching`.

I thought thats odd cos we havnt got or dont need camping stuff.

I forgot about it as he goes through phases and thought hed put them thete. I phone in work about 10 mins ago and i ask him whats all this camping stuff your watching in ebay - he says i dunno was going to ask you the same thing.

So who put them there, they`re not expensive stuff (well at the mo they`re not) and we are not bidding on them, so how can they be ther unless someone has hacked into my account.

Why put the items to watch and why make it stand out by watching 6 items?

A few months ago i logged on to find i was winning a football goalkeepers top for £25, now seeing my dh is a goalkeeper thought nothing of it, until a week later i said to him shame you didnt win that keeper top, and he said what keeper top??That did have a bid on it but luckily we never won it.

What do you think?????

Time to changed your Password & Secret Question
  • I'm not very technical, & don't know anything about the bidding incident, but I do know that some auctions can contain a hidden html which will add an item to your watchlist. You just have to visit a page & it can do this..but no-one else can see your watchlist & others cannot bid from it, so it doesn't mean you've been hacked.

Don't know why they do this...perhaps in the hope that more than one person uses the account & you come along & think, Oh, that looks okay, I'll have a bid...as if!!
I'm sure some-one more knowledgable will be along & explain properly.

I have had a problem with items appearing or even disapperaing from my watched list..... Notified Ebay and there was a problem with their system and others had complained too...... If you haven't already done so, contact ebay and tell them that there is strange activity on your account so they look into it if you are worried, especially with regarding to bidding activity......

  • Thats weird! thats never happened to me before
  • Ebay have an excellent "live help" system but it only operates until 6pm.

My wife had her account hacked and it has been a nightmare to sort but ebay were very good - once I got home early enough to use the live help.

Always, always ALWAYS make sure that your Paypal password is different to your ebay password, coz that is where the trouble starts...

You're right... this can happen, althugh it's strictly not allowed. It would be interesting to know if these listings were all from the same seller.

If you have a lot of watchers (like, a ton) you make it to the Pulse list... which supposedly gives you even more exposure (although I never look at it and wouldn't know where to find it)
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

OOOHH I was number 4 in pulse mens clothing about a week ago selling a berghaus jacket....was well chuffed
Have often been top in the list for boys trainers but you only need about 20 watchers for that.
Have been dying to gloat so thanks for the opportunity;)
Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D
