Hey guys, would really appreciate any quick responses...
Moving out of our rented apartment and need to get the curtains dry cleaned as part of our tenancy agreement...it really rankles as they are less than 6 months old!!! Grr!
Been quoted so far from a few dry cleaners 3.85 per square metre to 5.00 per square metre.
Curtains are: 2 x pairs heavyweight 230cm x 165cm
1 x pair lightweight 230cm x 165cm
Can't believe this is the cheapest prices out there!?!
Anyone have any experience in this and remember who they used??
Please help!!!

I can't help you sorry, but how will they even know? I mean do they ask to see a receipt or something? Iron them a little and say they were dry cleaned
(ok you probably shouldn't take my advice as I don't want you to get into trouble!!)0 -

I have a cleaning business and we do mostly rental properties. That is an average price for dry cleaning curtains.
I have had discussions with rental agents about this, their contracts always say have curtains dry cleaned but it really is not always appropriate. Dry cleaning does not do curtains any good it seems to take the 'oompf' out of them and the material is never the same again. No one under normal circumstances would clean brand new curtains after 6 months or even 6 years. What I suggest is that if curtains seem clean to give them a good hoover and brush the tops where dusts collects and check the 'backside' for cobwebs. I give a price for this. The next step is the hoovering and brushing and then using a steamer on them to freshen them up, knock out the creases and really sterilise them. I then find something nice to spray on them usually very watered down lavender oil, literally one drop in a spray bottle and leave them closed so that they are not creased. Most Landlords and agents are happy with this.
If there have been smokers the curtains will have to be cleaned. if there have beem animals the curtains will have to be cleaned. Long curtains on the patio doors often get shut in the doors and have actually dirty marks on them, these will have to be cleaned. little cotton curtains can be carefully washed, on a cold wash to be safe, and ironed.
I would discuss this with your LA or Landlord and see what they say. You could say that you have taken advice and have been told that it isbest for them not to be dry cleaned so early in their life, it takes the finish off.

Thanks Loretta, that's makes a lot of sense - like I said, curtains are less than 6 months old, no pets, non-smokers, first floor apartment and we've had the windows open about 4 or 5 times total...I'll call them tomorrow and let you know how I get on...thanks again!!0
