Cam Belt VW Touran

Our Touran needs a new cam belt. VW have quoted £368 which includes new tensioners. The mechanic I usually go to for small jobs doesn't want to do it (cos his assistant is away at the moment and he says it's too much for him to do on his own).

I don't really like using places I don't know though. Also, it has to go in to the dealers to have an airbag fault checked under warranty, so if I go elsewhere it'll mean more messing around, instead of getting it all done at once.

Am I likely to get it much cheaper from an independent garage?

not too bad a price if as you say they are putting the full kit on it(apx £80),
as you say they need to do the airbag fault so let them do both,it will save you messing about going to two garages to try and save a few pounds

If it was going to be a huge saving (£100+ I suppose) it'd be worth it, but that would make it around £250 which sounded very cheap.
