ps2 playing in black and white

my new ps2 refuses to play in colour on my televison (2yrs old) but is happy to play in colour on my brothers new tv. does anyone know how to fix this problem or if indeed they are only compatible on new televisons? thanks in advance

  • Well I play mine on my portable, and it's older than Wayne Rooney. What type of video connectors are you using? If it's a scart, it may just be that the socket is a little dodgy from years of use.

    I can't remember the detail, but we had a smilar problem with a Region 1 DVD and our TV. Turned out that DVD (format NTFS) and the format that our TV could receive weren't the same, hence a black and white DVD. Sorry I can't quite remember the detail.

    Yeah you often get that when using PAL and NTSC devices. I've tried playing an America PS2 game on a British tv and it comes out b/w. Some tv's (usually more modern ones) can cope.

    If you're tv is PAL and your PS2 is PAL then I'm stuck.

    there should be an option somewhere on startup to run the game at 50 hertz or 60 hertz... select 50
